Master Yanran Carried the Flame of Kung Fu at the 14th Chinese American Olympics Opening Ceremony

(August 14, 2016. Redwood City, California, USA) The 14th Chinese American Olympics opened today in a vibrant and solemn ceremony at Sequoia High School Stadium in the beautiful Redwood City in the San Francisco Bay Area participated by athletes from across the United States.

Master Yanran, Executive Director of Shaolin Temple USA was invited by the event organizer North California Chinese Culture and Athletic Federation to join the torch relay team in passing on the fame and spirit of the games. Team members comprised twelve distinguished athletes of Chinese decendants from the United States and China.

Shaolin Temple USA’s formation in the parade of athletes showcased Shaolin Kung Fu and the Shaolin Warrior Spirit, to rave applauses and cheers from the audiences.

North California Chinese Culture and Athletic Federation is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to unit Chinese communities and nourish the next generation of athletic talent. Each year, 10,000 athletes from over 200 organizations participate in hundreds of events, making it the largest Chinese athletic event outside of China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

For Shaolin Temple USA, Master Yanran’s participation in the torch relay was a meaningful symbol that the flame of Shaolin Kung Fu as a sport is carried on and spreading in America.(Editor: Chan Yue)
